- Title: Maine Healthy Beaches Wastewater Outfalls
MHB_BeachWastewaterOutfalls is a subset of WASTEWATER_OUTFALLS created for the Maine Healthy Beach Program. It contains the locations of the ends of active outfall pipes and the locations of the ends of active Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO), associated with the treatment facilities licensed under the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) that occur near beaches on the Maine coast. WASTEWATER_OUTFALLS data was collected under two separate contracts and was overseen by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (MEDEP). Part 1 was from 1998 to 1999 under a Geo-graphics contract and Part 2 was from 2000 to 2001 under a contract with Northern Ecological Associates. The list of NPDES facilities was taken from sites within the EPA's Permit Compliance System (PCS) database with "active outfalls". Data was gathered at facilities that were known to be active as of June 2000. All data was collected using Trimble Pro-XR GPS receivers that have corrected accuracy of +/- 1 meter.
